District 5 - Serving East Lindon, Pleasant Grove & American Fork
TRACY'S MESSAGE
Why am I running for Alpine School District Board? Because I believe in the power of education to improve lives and that public education is most effective when individuals and families care and get involved.
Public Education is not one size fits all. I strongly believe that parents should have options that best fit their child’s needs and that it is the responsibility of the school district to find the best ways to support parents and fill those education needs.
I am a parent who cares about my kids’ education, and as a parent I want open and honest communication from our elected representatives. Voters have not always had a choice, and I want to offer that choice. With children in all levels of education I bring a fresh, relevant, and unique perspective to how the district can improve and how our area can be represented on the board.
I love kids! The educational experience for our kids is improved when district officials, school administrators, teachers, parents, and students work together. Keeping communication channels open and connecting across all levels of education empowers students to do their best and opens up opportunities for their futures.
Students need a safe learning environment. They need a place free from discrimination, bullying, and fear. It is our responsibility as adults and parents to educate ourselves and have conversations in our homes about appropriate language, behavior, and conduct for our children. Schools can then support parents in ensuring all students feel safe and have the opportunity to learn and grow.
My experience is that teachers enter the field of education because they truly love education and children. They are passionate about their subjects and about having a positive impact in the lives of those they teach. The success of our schools is largely reliant on the success of our teachers. We need to support them by giving them the resources that they need and then allow them to do their job the best they can.
The school district has a fiscal responsibility to be accountable and transparent to taxpayers. I believe in being clear in how tax dollars are spent, and in being responsible and judicious in how budgets are created and used. We owe it to the students, to the employees of the district, and to the constituents to be accountable with public funds.
By having clear communication, we can work together to keep Alpine School District a place where students succeed.
